Alexandria frames from Gresso’s summer 2021 collection
Formerly a manufacturer of luxury mobile phones and titanium accessories, Miami-based Gresso (gresso.com) has turned its focus toward eyewear with its first line of cutting-edge shades. The brand’s frames, which are cut from a single sheet of titanium and weigh just 17 grams (three times lighter than regular eyewear), are outfitted with high-tech, UV-protected Carl Zeiss lenses that are treated with an anti-reflective coating to reduce glare and repel oil and fingerprints. The summer 2021 collection is inspired by the beaches of Spain and the Mediterranean with silhouettes that recall 1970s jet set style.
Imagery from the Ase: Afro Frequencies interactive exhibition at Artechouse
Artechouse’s new interactive exhibition, Ase: Afro Frequencies, couldn’t be timelier. Featuring the work of the surrealist artist and illustrator Vince Fraser, the immersive experience offers a multisensory contemplation of the Black experience through a futuristic lens. Inspired by the idea of ase, the West African concept relating to individual power to make things happen and produce change, the exhibit references the idea that every concept in life has frequencies and metaphorical wavelengths that we can tune into. “I feel it’s important to tell the story [of the Black experience] from my perspective as a Black creative producing doorways into concepts beyond the realm of the everyday,” says Fraser. “I hope my work will inspire and empower a whole generation of artists to express themselves through their unique art form.” Through Nov. 7, 736 Collins Ave., Miami Beach, artechouse.com
A wedding dress from the Disco Daydream collection by Grace Loves Lace
Designed with founder Megan Ziems’ Australia home in mind, the new Grace Loves Lace showroom is marked by natural lighting, whitewashed walls and vibrant florals accented with earthy tones—all of which is the ideal backdrop for the label’s wedding collections. “As a brand, we never stop looking for ways in which we can do better,” says Ziems, and that sentiment is on display at the new studio where the focus is on ready-to-wear garments and accessories for the multitude of brides who had to rethink their 2020 wedding plans due to COVID-19 and have now pivoted to fuss-free nuptials. To that end, the Disco Daydream line was designed to offer “high impact, function and comfort” with three silhouettes created from double-layered textured satin cut on the bias, each of which is available within three days of placing the order. For bridesmaids, the eco-conscious Amitié collection comprises six styles inspired by the easy flow of lingerie. 314 NW 25th St., Miami, 305.456.5131, graceloveslace.com
