THE OCCASION Now in its second year, Miami Fights once again joined efforts with the Fontainebleau’s Bleu Goes Pink initiative for an evening that celebrated four breast cancer survivors who were treated at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. THE CROWD Hosted by The Juice Foundation founder Jenine Howard, the cocktail party honored Jane Torres, Marya Meyer, Karla Rocha and Ellen Weston, women who stared cancer in the eye and lived to tell about it. THE HIGHLIGHTS Held on the lawn facing the ocean, the party treated attendees to tasting stations featuring bites from the Fontainebleau’s various restaurants. After the showing of a documentary detailing each of the aforementioned survivors’ stories and a speech by the SCCC’s Dr. Joyce Slingerland came the evening’s big moment: That’s when Miami Publisher Diana Riser and Fontainebleau COO Philip Goldfarb pushed a button that immediately turned the exterior of the hotel a happy shade of pink via the magic of state-of-the art lighting.
