The Party
Miami’s first gala of the new year kicked off 2015 on a musical note. YoungArts partnered up with Max Mara for its Backyard Ball, a party that put the entity’s charitable efforts (mentoring students in the arts) on display.

The Crowd
Hosted by YoungArts President and CEO Paul Lehr, co-chaired by Bruce and Tracey Berkowitz and Elizabeth and Facundo Bacardi, and emceed by actress Zuzanna Szadkowski, the event recognized three prolific creatives: The 2015 Arison Award (YoungArts’ biggest honor) was presented to visual artist Jeff Koons, while singers Josh Groban and Chris Young received the year’s Alumni Awards.

The Highlights

The gathering was a cocktail party, dinner and awards ceremony all rolled into one. After speeches by the aforementioned honorees came a processional with 170 high school students from around the country who had spent the preceding week in numerous master classes with the likes of James Caan, Phylicia Rashad and Desmond Child. As it’s become customary, the gala’s shining moment took place when YoungArts alumni (dancers, actors and musicians) from near and far took the stage for a multidisciplinary performance conceived by Tony Award-winning choreographer Bill T. Jones. By evening’s end, the event had raised $1.7 million. -Photography by World Red Eye
